11/5/04 - Miss Hailey peacefully went home to Heaven on October 24th with her family at her side. Her mommy Theresa wrote a beautiful entry on caringbridge and I'd like to invite you to read it by clicking here. You may send the family your condolences in the guestbook on that site. Blessings and love to everyone who knew and loved Hailey. Thank you everyone who helped make a BIG difference in this little girl's life; I can't thank you enough. If you hear a song playing, it's called, "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me. It was played at Hailey's service and ironically was her favorite song. Bless her heart.
10/24/04 - Today's fundraising food sampling at the Outback Steakhouse in Roseville was another huge success, raising over $1,400! Outback donated all the delicious food and the staff donated their time (and did a great job!) 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Hailey & her family. Shari Bullock did an incredible job organizing this! Congratulations to all the raffle winners, and a very special thanks to everyone who made this possible.
10/15/04 - Well Kim & her girls are in the air right now as I type this! Thanks to the efforts of so many wonderful people, we achieved our goal of getting them here to Michigan to spend time with Hailey. Thank you and a BIG {{{HUG}}} to everyone who made this possible!

10/9/04 - TODAY'S Car Wash Fundraiser Was a HUGE SUCCESS! A very BIG thanks to everyone that helped out at the car wash today and to all the folks that brought their cars (dirty or not) to help out. Thanks to the huge success of this event, we not only met our financial goal, we DOUBLED it! Thanks to the generous folks that donated their money and time at the car wash today, we raised another $3200! Thanks to each and every one of you - we did it! We made the family's wish come true, to get Kim and her girls here to Michigan. Additional funds raised from these ongoing events will go directly to Hailey's family to cover additional expenses. Bless each and every one of you!
10/6/04 - Today we booked airline reservations for Kim and her girls. They will be here in Michigan next Friday! Thank you everyone for helping us get this far!
10/2/04 - My daughter Lindsey and I got to meet Hailey at her family's cook out. We are both completely honored to have met that little trooper.

This might be a long shot, but I've GOT to do something to ask for help! A friend of mine, Kim (Smoot) Chesley, is losing her 4-year old niece, Hailey Sadler, to cancer. Hailey, who was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor Cancer in June 2003, returned home late last month from St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

I'm not giving up hope; I will continue to pray for a miracle and ask you all to please do the same!

We are asking for $$$ donations so that Hailey's Aunt Kim and two daughters, Leah and Kayla can get to Michigan ASAP to spend time with Hailey. (Kim is Hailey's mom's sister.) Kim lives in Phoenix, Arizona and Hailey and her family live in Hazel Park, Michigan. Kim and her husband both work and just bought a home, and because of finances, there's just no way Kim can take a leave from work for a couple months to be here. UNLESS WE HELP! We're raising funds to pay at least 2 mortgage payments ($835/month) for Kim (her husband's income will cover the remaining bills) and airfare to get them here (approx. $300/person x 3) which totals approximately $2,500. She's willing to drive to save $$ but that would waste valuable time. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, I'm on my knees begging for any and all help!

Kim would like to be here in Michigan a couple months, enroll her daughters in school so they don't miss their education, and be here with Hailey as long as possible.

We are very close to reaching our goal! In the event we exceed our goal, the additional money will go to Hailey's family to cover additional expenses. In the event there is money left over, Hailey's family will be donating it to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a similar organization.

I've been working very diligently getting the word out by various means. I've contacted various radio stations, TV & news stations, talk show hosts, newspapers, celebrities, organizations, etc. and will continue to contact any and everyone I can think of that may be able to help. PLEASE forward this on to all your friends, family and co-workers, post on message boards, etc. whatever it takes to get the help Hailey's family needs. If you work in the communications field (TV, radio, newspaper, etc.) or know someone who does, PLEASE do what you can to publicize this! I'm currently working on a flyer that will be available on this site soon in PDF format for people to print and distribute.

Before hearing this horrible news, I had never met Hailey, but I felt as though I had. Perhaps it's just part of being human, but I don't know how anyone could read her story and NOT do something to help. I cry every time I think about it, and I pray all the time for this girl and her family. I feel as though she's one of my own... maybe being a mother gives you a deep-rooted love for all children, not just your own, I don't know. But I do know that if I were losing my baby to cancer, I would PRAY that someone would do for me what I'm trying to do for them. I look at that picture of Hailey with those beautiful blue eyes and that sweet, innocent smile and I'm overwhelmed with emotions. I have this ache in the pit of my stomach, just thinking about what that poor little girl has gone through and I think about what her parents are going through, and I just feel so helpless. I want to scream, I want to cry, I want God to show me the greatest miracle I've ever witnessed RIGHT NOW! Things like this can really test one's faith, that's for sure. People say "don't question God" but in a time like this, how can I not? I will keep praying and I refuse to give up hope for a miracle. Like Hailey's aunt Kim said, I also will not give up hope as long as that little angel has air in her lungs.

I know it's really easy for some people to read this, do nothing, and never think about it again. But please, I'm begging you, before you do that, imagine if Hailey was your daughter, or niece, or grandchild. How would you feel?

If anyone would like to verify this is legit and not some scam (sorry, but people can be skeptical) feel free to contact the Cancer Center at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI @ 248-551-5000 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN @ (901) 495-3300. Hailey left St. Jude's on 9/24 to come back home to Michigan, but they can verify Hailey is real, has been a patient there, and her story is true.

A simple "Thank You" just doesn't seem to be enough. The outpouring of love, consideration, caring and kindness poured out to me and my family in the past couple of weeks has overwhelmed us. To think that even our friends and loved ones could give so much to help and show they care is enough to take in but all the people who never even met us or Hailey that came through like they did is just amazing. The items and services donated for the raffle, the money donated and the prayers were all from the goodness of your heart and without expecting anything in return. The time spent by Sandy getting the word out and the time lost by her family for ours we wish we could replace but we know she did it without conviction and so unselfishly. From that awesome lady who created the website and e-mailed her butt off to the first person who donated at the website, to the wonderful woman that will be massaging some lucky person's back for free all the way to the last person that got a carwash on Saturday, we have so much admiration for all of you. I wish I could thank every single person by name and maybe one day soon we can, but for now I just wanted to make sure that you knew that we do appreciate and love you for all of this. I hope that I can make you feel as wonderful as you have made us feel. Many tears have been shed everytime someone donated a service or prize or every time the dollar went up on the website and everytime someone told us that we were in their prayers. A Note from Sandy...
I've said this to many of you when I thanked you for your donations, but I would like to post my feelings here as well. I am absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, prayers and generosity that I have witnessed over the last few days. Watching so many people (mostly strangers) coming together to make a huge difference in this little girl's life has touched me to the very core of my soul. This journey has definitely rejuvenated my faith in the human race; there really are lots of good people out there. If you're reading this right now, you are one of them! I truly cannot find the words to express my gratitude for all of your kind words, your good thoughts and prayers, your donations of goods and services, as well as your financial support to get Kim & her girls to Michigan. I am forever changed by this experience and I thank you all for that as well. [9/30/04]

Alright, this list will be long and ongoing as I think of things, but I needed to give some shout outs to some absolutely wonderful people who are official in my book of "Angels on Earth". So many people from across the country -- mostly strangers -- have come together and chipped in to make this fundraising effort a complete success. There are the obvious folks who you see listed on the right under "Hailey's Heroes", those kind-hearted souls who donated their hard-earned money for this cause. There are also all the folks and businesses listed under "Free Raffle" who donated either goods or services for our raffle -- all of you were so quick to respond to this fundraising effort, I can't thank you enough. I'm sure I speak for Hailey and her family as well, when I say thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul for making a tremendous difference in this family's life. Your outpouring of love and generosity will not soon be forgotten.
But there are many other folks who I need to give a shout out to, who did something that made a difference... perhaps not in sending money, but in some other very important way (some of these folks sent money too but deserve an extra thank you!). Many folks thank me for everything *I've* done, however, my efforts would all be in vain if weren't for all of YOU! So please thank yourself, not me, because this has truly been a group effort; I'm simply the messenger. I don't deserve any more thanks than all of you who have chipped in and helped in one way or the other.

Our Financial Goal!
Our ulimate goal was to raise $2500 which included the cost to fly Kim & her two daughters to Michigan, plus help with bills while Kim took a leave at work. Thanks to the good hearts and generosity of many good people out there, WE DID IT!
